Macclesfield Medical Centre
We now have an impressive modern medical centre in Macclesfield which has drawn all the doctors surgeries into one location. This seems in most cases to be a benefit. However, yesterday my wife wanted to feed and change our baby whilst waiting for an appointment which was running late.
I was dissapointed to discover that she was told there were no facilities in the building for baby changing or breast feeding. This seems appalling to me in a purpose built modern medical facility which serves midwifery and post natal services for the whole Macclesfield area.
I am wiriting to them and my MP to discover what can be done to improve the situation.

Nicholas Winterton - an MP who cares about local issues
Rather than just winge about the lack of changing facilities I decided to take positive action and contact our local MP. I emailed him via his page on the Conservatives web site. (http://www.conservatives.com/tile.do?def=people.person.page&PersonID=479...)
I was surprised initially that I got a written response from his secretary, and even more please when I heard news of positive action. It would appear that there has always been changing facilities, one on each floor of the medical centre, however there are no signs and noone knows about them - including the doctors. So the proposal is that an item on the next agenda at the medical centre management meeting will suggest improved signage. Well done Nicholas Winterton, it is good to know we have an MP who is in touch and responds to local needs, no matter how seemingly trivial they may be.
